Little Shamrocks News, Issue #7 -- Holiday Recipes and Gift Giving

Hello Friends

Well, the leaves have turned and winter is just around the corner. It's time to start thinking about the holidays and making our lists for gift giving. Our distributor, Food Ireland, will have great deals on food gifts such as Irish breakfast ingredients and assorted cheeses; or you may be interested in giving that someone special some Irish pottery or a cookbook. There is plenty of time now for perusing.

In October, we added several recipes including Chicken with Apple-Cherry Chutney, Wild Rice & Barley Stuffed Mushrooms, Potato & Leek Bake, Tangy Shredded Beets and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Cake Roll. We also added four new Irish pie recipes which are Michaelmas Pie (Apple & Blackberries), Rhubarb & Raspberry Pie, Irish Apple Tart and Dark Chocolate Irish Cream Tart. I love making new recipes that I have never tried before. They all had excellent results.

I have been making a list of several holiday fancy treats that will be added this month. There will be cookies, brownies, bars, fudge, pudding and snack mix. They will appear in two batches, both before Thanksgiving. This will allow you bakers out there to have plenty of time to look at all the goodies.

We received a nice long letter from Gerry Bohan telling us all about everything that is going on in Mohill and Co. Leitrim. Teresa and J.P. are both doing fine, as well as Jim and Phil O'Brien. Clarke's new Spirit Bar is open and doing very well. The restaurant is in the process of being refurbished at present. I had a lovely e-mail from Noel and Maria McCarter of the Rowan Family Cyclists. They wanted to give me an update on the success of their fundraising trek for Meningitis Research, which came to a total of 10,000 Pounds (approximately $15,000). Fabulous!

We have added many new affiliate links where you can purchase Irish posters or Irish music, for example. You can even book a trip to Ireland! And, finally, we have added a page of Terry's favorite Irish books, including a brief review of each. Please let us know how you like the new additions to LittleShamrocks.com. I would love to hear from you!
